3.1.5 Circular grooves. When specified (see 7.2(c)), circular grooves shall be provided on machines with roll diameters of 2 inches or larger.
3.1.6 Longitudinal grooves. Longitudinal grooves shall be provided in one or more rolls on machines with roll diameters of 3 inches or larger.
3.1.7 Hand crank. Type I, forming machines shall be provided with a hand crank to impart rotary motion (forward and reverse) to the gear driven rolls without binding or marring the work.
3.2 System of units. The U.S. Customary System of Units (US) or the International System of Units (SI) shall be used to graduate measuring and indicating devices. When only one system of graduation is acceptable, the particular graduation required shall be as specified (see 7.2(d)). Regardless of the measurement system used, all measuring and indicating devices on the machine shall be graduated in the same system. When specified (see 7.2(e)), measuring and indicating devices shall be graduated in both the US and SI system of measurements.
3.3 Machine dimensions and weight. If required, the maximum machine dimensions (length, width, and height) shall not exceed the specified restrictions (see 7.2(f)).
3.4 Lubrication. All bearings (except sealed-for-life type), mating gears, and sliding parts shall be provided with a means for lubrication.
3.5 Electrical system. The electrical system shall conform to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) ANSI/NFPA-79. The machine shall operate from a dual 230/460-volt, 3- phase, 60-hertz circuit and shall be initially wired for the volt specified (see 7.2(g)).
3.6 Optional equipment. Optional equipment shall be furnished as specified (see 7.2(h)).
3.7 Performance. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2(i)), the forming machine shall meet the performance requirements shown in table I when tested in accordance with section 5.3.
3.8 Nameplate. A nameplate shall be securely attached to the machine. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2(j)), the nameplate shall contain the following information:
a. Nomenclature.
b. Manufacturer's name.
c. Manufacturer's model designation. d. Manufacturer's serial number.
e. Power Input (volts, total amps, phase, frequency). f. Short-circuit/over-current protection rating.
g. Contract number or order number. h. National stock number.
i. Date of manufacture.
3.9 Lubrication plate or chart. When specified (see 7.2(k)), a lubrication plate or chart shall be attached to the machine. The information provided on the plate or chart shall include:
